Yep, that's your sump/fuge. I put stuff like that on the impeller side.

Should be fine, but IMO bulkreefsupply's calc/alk/mag package is SO much easier to add and comes with easy dispensers. All the supplements are liquid (when mixed) so simply pouring it into the tank near a power head is more than fine. Not as cheap as pedlow, but not much more for the convenience
