nope. They even leave the BBQ alone :) Only once did Mama bear come and knock on our window (3 years ago). My wife and I were at work and my mother panicked. I had to tell her to be calm and get the camera.. by then she was gone.

I am fairly certain one of these 2 is the one that I chased a 1/4 through the forest trying to snap a pic :D

Re: Cat (a sad day)

Post by J-P »

Today was my day off and I slept in. We usually feed Shiro and the other cats at 5:30 ~ 6:00 am. I woke up at 8:00 am and Shiro was already gone. I assumed he was roaming about.

At 1:00pm today I was told they found his body down the road... hit by a car last night / early this morning.

The neighbor that picked him up offered to bury him for us in the spring. I'm not sure if we're going to take care of that or not. The wife is in tears.

I know it sucks... he survived all this time on our deck.. even through a harsh winter and gets smoked by a car once it turns nice outside.

Awe..... such a pretty cat. I have just read this whole thread and just now realized how old the beginning had been. Shiro was a beautiful cat and lucky to have you care for her as a stray. Most people try to rid themselves of stray cats, which can explain her fear of humans. Lucky cat to have met you......

it does suck. I spoke to the neighbor who found him and he actually witnessed the accident. It happened at bout 8:00 am.. right about when we woke up. It is my wife's belief that when the neighbor approached Shiro he took off which caused the accident.
Either way, having the neighbor in the general vicinity of the cat was bad news.
