I'd drain the tank to remove any parasites the GS might have pooped out & clean everything with Oxyclean, including the substrate & filters. Better yet, have him do it!

I'd be inclined to remove them all and sterilize the tank.

Ich is really the smallest of your worries.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.
