Lifting tanks is never fun, especially when they are more than 3-feet long.

There was only 3 of us this time. Me one end and them two the other. They were struggling like mad

Me and the husband struggled with that 4 x 2 x 2 (10mm glass) and it was no fun at all. A couple of times I thought we were going to drop it and the thought of all that glass breaking was not a good one. I hate moving tanks, and we've done enough of it. The next one I get, I'm going to hire some extra hands -- I'm getting too old to be moving heavy tanks about.

Two things about my stock vat:

one, it was light enough for me to move about myself

and

two, I don't have to worry about pacu crashing through the glass...

The drawbacks are quite large - it's ugly and you cannot see through the sides

Today I went to the animal rescue.. my gran wanted a kitten/cat.. they wouldn't let her have one because there was a road outside her house.
Now don't get me wrong, I understand they don't want their rescue cat run over.. but who doesn't have a road outside their house ? even if you live in the country with miles of fields.. you pretty much always have a road to get there.
It's not a main road she lives on, they'll never get rid of any cats with that attitude .
So we left and went to Ikea, bought a bunk bed for my cousins.. then came home, I'm SO tired.

Seriously, cause she had a road in front of her house they wouldnt let her have it. Thats just crazy. You should look in the paper/craigslist(if yall have something like that) and see what you can find. Thats how I got my little devil kitten for free.

Back when I wanted to get a dog, when I first came to the UK, we went to rescue centers because I thought that would be the right thing to do. I was amazed how much they wanted in adoption fees and how strict they were in who they would allow to have a dog. Now, I do understand that they have to be careful, but I would think if someone was serious about giving a dog a home, they would be happy to have a dog rehomed, but they acted as if we were the bad guys. I ended up buying a puppy from a private seller.

I agree, they're way over the top.. the cats here where £60 with no vaccinations and no spaying/neutering.
I understand they look after them for a while etc and it's to help with the shelter.. but £60 is a lot for a domestic cat you can get free in newspapers etc.
A £20-30 fee maybe fair enough but £60 .. it's just too much when they also need neutering (around £60) and vaccinations (about £30 for both lots) and they come to your house to check your home is suitable etc.. if it was a dog maybe.. but I dunno it just put me off.
I'm trying to find her one online now.

We rescued two dogs over the past four years, one from a mainstream 'Dogs Trust' centre and another from a private centre which has since closed.

I didn't notice any difficulties here apart from the expected hefty 'donation' for rehoming. We payed for spaying and the vacc's.

One is a bouncy licky staffie (like most of the rest of the dogs that need a home around here - they are quite often staffies or shepards or rotties) who wouldn't hurt anyone. She looked like a toast rack when we got her. Maybe 1/2 the weight she should have been. If you make a loud noise near her or gesture too quickly - she cowers, so I've no idea what she has been through. Was picked up as a stray...

The Flosswappit is a terrier crossed with a collie sheepdog - 'Oh - that funny looking thing', said one of the helpers when we went to collect her. She's a heap, a smelly heap but we love her

Bottom line is: - it's worth it

I decided that after my holiday and operation I'm going to dye my hair pretty much like this:

even though it's odd.. I like it, I'm bored of looking boring and normal.
Even if I just dye it back black a few weeks later, I need a change .. I can sit on my hair now it's so long, needs some style.
I might leave out the pink and just do it blonde on top and black round my face.. not sure yet.

Re did the 5 gal. Its as ugly as can be but is more functionable. Tomorrow is take cleaning day, getta wipe up all the drip marks and smears and stuff.
