Tank plan

A pair of irrubesco, and a trio of DP's in a 30 gallon long. Possible? I'd love to hear some thoughts :)

I think the DPs will bite the other puffers.

That was my thought as well really. Isn't there a user on here who keeps them together? I can't remember their username, but I think I remember reading it :?

I have also kept Irrubesco and DP's together. The DP's...of which there were 3 or 4 at the time, did certainly not pick on my irrubesco... She certainly did not have the 'look' of a picked on puffer. :)

But each experience it different. You could try it - so long as you could move one party or the other, if it wasn't working out.

Wow, your irrubesco looks fantastic, have you got any more pics? What ratio did you keep?

I believe it was 4 DPs - and 1 Irrubesco at the time, in a 20g.

Haha, thats thrown a spanner in the works. I might well give it a go then if it's do able. I've got other tanks to exchange to if it goes wrong.

Did you have any problems at all?

No problems at all. I did at one point introduce a male Irrubesco to the mix - and that did not go over well. 'She' did not care for he...and I had to relocate him.

As for the relationship between the DP's and 'Watermelon' - it was great. I thought that she being bigger would have bullied them - but that was not the case, and I never saw the DP's trying to bully or nip at her...as you can see - perfect fins in the pics.

yeah, I'd be worried that a pair of irrubesco might make it awkward as opposed to a single. Watermelon looks really, really cool though!

I guess the worst I can do is try it, and if it doesnt work, seperate them right?

There was no out competing for food?

No competition at all. Bloodworms, live blackworms and snails were favourites. Mealtimes were always orderly and without incident.

As I say - it was a peaceful paradise. Try it. Worse case, separate them.
