puffer for 75 folr
puffer for 75 folr
was wondering what your guys opinion was if i got a dogface, narrow line, or a masked puffer for my 75 gallons folr. i know it says the minimum for the profile is 100 gallons, but i plan on keeping only the puffer and no other fish.

- My Puffers: I am my own puffer. I do not possess a "name" in any sense a person would find comprehensible. My identity to another of my kind is not even individual as you understand it; in the semiotics of puffer fish interaction, indices are the only connection between the signifier and the signified - how does a consciousness working as described have a place for a name? I am identified by my bulk, territory, hormone releases (including for breeding), as well as my current body language.
- Location (country): I prefer not to be too specific on such a detail. A puffer must be careful.
My kind are well known to be exported from the tropics of Asia to locations across the globe. - Location: Consider - I may be in your very aquarium right now!
Re: puffer for 75 folr
The hundred gallon measure is for the puffer alone. Were you to run a very large sump, a fifty-five gallon perhaps, and design it such that the majority of its water volume is used, the bioload aspect might work out in a seventy-five gallon aquarium.
Still, the space available for your puffer to explore and move would be more limited that it would appreciate in that circumstance, even if all-important water quality is maintained. A six foot by eighteen inch tank such as a 125 is particularly suitable.

I will agree with GSP on the 125. You need a wide tank. My buddies dogface is 14"+ right now. Be ready for that because they grow quick.

Speaking of GSP, how about a couple of them & some tank mates (if they allow).

Re: puffer for 75 folr
i have had a spotted sharpnose/neon puffer(toby type species) in with my GSP in a 75. never saw any problems, but its dependent on the puffer itself and if he is more/less aggressive towards tankmates. its really a trial basis on tank mates, but also keep in mind as your GSP gets closer to sexual maturity he will most likely become more aggressive and could take out any tankmates

how about the Arothron manilensis "Narrow-lined Puffer". it seems there is some reports of them reaching only half the size of wild ones.they grow to 12 inches in the wild, maybe i can have one in the 75 gallon for a long time or am i jus dreaming?lol

Same requirements as the dogface which is 100 gallon min. So 75 gallon for life is a bit to small.vtecaek wrote:how about the Arothron manilensis "Narrow-lined Puffer". it seems there is some reports of them reaching only half the size of wild ones.they grow to 12 inches in the wild, maybe i can have one in the 75 gallon for a long time or am i jus dreaming?lol

There is no reason an adult fish shouldn't reach their size in the wild or even larger.it seems there is some reports of them reaching only half the size of wild ones.
