some of it is being covered by the hospital, and some from donations, but most from us :( its all part of the expenses of cancer i guess? but were doing okay.

Can you tell us what kind of costs you're incurring? I had no idea you'd have to pay for things too...

Oh I know all too well about that (thankfully I have private insurance) :( I was under the impression that all medications that are deemed "necessary" are covered.

Just want to add that I'm not looking for numbers at all, just what things are removing the money from your pockets.

Through my dad's work. I've had it my whole life and it covers every single drug. Covers dental too.

Hey all,

well when it comes to expenses they vary, when i am in the hospital, everything is taken care of for sophia, meds, room, food ect.. but forme nothing is covered
i need to pay for all my food, during the raditaion for the 6 weeks, i need to stay in a hotel as a out patient, and pay for all our food ect... all her meds and stuff
are covered still, well most of them anyways :)

Where the money has to be spent is parking, travel, and because i am not working, my wife needs all the normal stuff at home, so we are living as if we are in two homes, but on one income. so yeah things are tite.

Thanks again for everything guys, and thanks for the concert JP, sounds like its gonna be awesome?

it is going to be a blast...

take a house party and multiply that by 20 or more. I'll do my best to get vids but I'll be behind the grill most of the time. I just hope it is worth while and ppl do something as apposed to being free loaders.

There is a door charge of $5 and of that $1 goes to you and all proceeds from the food / drink concession.

See if you can get your Mustang group here ;) that would be awesome to see!!

Don is right, even with a majority of the medical costs covered...it is still expensive.

My son was born with club foot and needed surgery..we were far from home. My husband had to take off work for days. We needed a hotel. Gas going back and forth to home was terrible..Food (all take out or hospital) got expensive...and then you have the child...things the child needs...and in those times the only thing a parent can do is to give the child presents (toys, books)..anything to make the child happy and still in the bed...VERY difficult!!!!

I am sure that Don needs this money for comfort and peace of mind. So far from home, away from a support system, even taking a shower in a hotel room feels like a luxury...

Aside from insurance deductibles me and my husband spent hundreds of dollars just on the little things..little things that kept us from falling apart...

So sorry you are going through this Don :grouphug:

Don keep in mind when Sophia is out of the hospital and her drugs aren't covered you can always apply to the Trillium Drug Plan. Having had two kidney transplants myself I certainly know the cost of medications, this plan was and still is a life saver to me. Check into it if you haven't already. Good luck with the fund raiser.
