Second Pufferpunk's comments. The photo shows the bright green cap clearly,and that is diagnostic of GSP in young live specimens. The GSP is one of the most variable puffers due to its extremely wide geographic range, with significant local variations in the areas of greatest isolation from the main centers of population.

Do the giants have the green head-spot? Many have thought my GSPs were Giant Spotted but as juvies, they had the telltale bright green

Yes they do have the bright spot the same as the GSP's.

I think you will have to wait and see.

Treat it like a Green Spotted Puffer (T.nigroviridis). Brackish to full marine. Watch your water quality close, and if you see signs that it isn't liking the marine water, try slowly lowering the salinity to see if it prefers lower.. I think some of the "giants" seem to prefer lower salinity to higher? Either way, it looks pretty happy right now.

Monos are largish schooling fish, need to be in significant schools in very large and high-current tanks.

waaay too little, and they are schooling fish so he wont feel comfortable by himself, probably be very skittish. plus for a school of them you need 300gallons so i imagine monos get pretty big as a single specimen. dont know what monos are so i cant say for sure

what is that other fish, possibly a puffer, to the left in the first picture almost all the way in the upper left corner?

This is why it's always a good idea not to purchase something you haven't seen before, until you go home & research it. Good thing it hasn't eaten any of your fish... yet.

What puffer do you have? What size tank? How long has it been set up?
