If you mean the one in the middle I believe he is Arothron meleagris commonly known as Guineafowl Puffer.

Thats the same puffer as in the last picture with the blenny :)

Just thats when he was younger and in the pic with sand on his belly is more recent.
The first pic is more colourful, he was always a very colourful baby, now hes about 3 times the size and is usually quite dark in colour and brightens up at around dinner time (yes he seems to be able to tell the time) hehe.

But yes both same fish, i didn't think if the one in your avatar was a S&S, then mine was too as thye are very different, yours is much brighter, has a lot more pattern to him and a much shorter face.

Mine has a longer nose, he doesn't have pattern on his belly, its just a cream/yellow colour and he also doesn't have pattern on his tail either, overall no where near as much striping, unless of course they very much vary like the common dog face?

Mine looks more like the picture with the blenny but like you said, they do change colors depending on the time and mood. My avatar makes it look like it has a lot of stripes on its belly but really their are only two or three stripes and then a pure white belly. I do believe they grow in as i have watched one ring grow around his gill. I will say mine does look a bit different than most i see online. He is young and is about 7" so i wonder if his appearance will change or maybe their patterns differ depending on their region they are from. Maybe even sex. As for brightness, that pic was taken with a flash. I have a few pics and a video at jdak.net if you would like to see more.

jdak, using flash how did you get that picture to look so clear like you took it in the water with the puffer? you use a really good camera? like without a glare on the glass of the flash

I do get glair in some pics on my reef tank which is glass. My puffer tank is acrylic. I wonder if their is less of a glair... Yes, it is a cybershot.
