Yep Aptasia.
I also have some Im about to deal with. My LFS recommended "Aptasia X" It came with needles to penetrate and inject the solution. Only thing is I have yet to see it work (been working). Has anyone used this before. LFS said it'd be fine in my reef tank. Sorry to hi-jack the thread, Just want to hear anyones XP before trying and recommending it first....

Aptasia is all I kno, and as far as I kno.... theyre all bad. They can sting fish and corals and will spread and grow pretty rapidly. Terminate it IMHO

I honestly have no clue. Im still a SW noob. But I would imagine you wouldnt want it to tear and leak in the tank. IDK. Im about to try this stuff called aptasia x and it has needles you use to inject the poison into the aptasia. If its in the sand then you could prolly scoop or vacuum it out aslong as the foots not stuck to the bottom. There are some vids on youtube on aptasia removal too!

What every you do do not tear or pull on it. It will cause them to spread.
Get a bottle of Joe's Juice or Aptasia X, it seems to be the best way. Kalkwasser mixed into a thick paste will work (use a feeding syringe to cover it), some people use boiling lime juice, there are many methods, but Joe's or X seem to be the best.
If its on a rock, and you just have it on one rock, in one spot, I would take that rock out and use a propane torch to nuke the aptasia. I know it sounds crazy, but even if you joes/X/kalk the aptasia there is a chance some of the foot will live, coming back ten fold. I have done this and know fellow reefers who have done this. If you dont nip it in the butt now you will possibly have aptasia all over.

I kill mine with kalk. Mix it with water 1:1 ratio and it becomes a paste. All this is is a calcium overdose. Turn your pumps off while preforming this. You can mix it in an oral syringe for immediate use. You will see it shrivel up in a 1/2 second. If you tear them open, they can regrow or even seed the tank with more to show up.

I am interested in this... I have never used either aiptasiax or joes. Are you saying you shoot it and nothing happens immediately?SammyDee wrote:Yep Aptasia.

No I havent used it yet. I was waiting for TPF approval since I have soft corals and some small LPS/SPS coral. I wanted to be sure it was reef safe....It friggin better work it was 19$ for 4oz and two needles for injecting.

Re: Pics of a few things 45g and 10g
Might be why i stuck with kalk:) I've never heard any of these options to be dangerous to a reef if used in moderation. I believe the directions say not to do more than 10 at a time. Also, using kalk boost your calcium if you are watching this. I've even used kalk to nuke off spots of bubble algae and now i put some on every bubble that pops up.SammyDee wrote:19$ for 4oz and two needles

Same as kalkwasser idea, just put a blob on the mouth. No real 'injection' other wise they will quickly close and not consume the stuff.jdak wrote:I am interested in this...
