Puffer identification confusion...

Ok so are there two different types of GSP? There's a page here -> http://badmanstropicalfish.com/brackish ... uffer.html about Tetraodon Nigrifilis that says it only grows to 3.25". And then there's another page here -> http://badmanstropicalfish.com/brackish/Ceylon.html about Tetraodon nigroviridis that says they grow up to 6". I'd like to know because that's a big difference. lol.

Both of those IDs are flawed. Check our Pufferpedia for correct IDs & profiles.

Yep unfortunately there is a ton of very flawed, wrong information out there about puffers. Honestly from what I have experienced pretty much about 90% of the stuff I read about GSPs from other websites ended up being misleading info. I pretty much stick to getting all of my information from here, where the people that really know about puffer care can help.

Yea Ive been to that site and its one of the worst for info. I went there before here when I got my first GSP. Boy was that site wrong. I trust TPF only. Good thing ya found TPF thou..

Thanks guys. I was wondering about that. So there are no green spotted puffers that stay 3.25" or less?

I only press the issue because I'm in Alaska and it's very difficult for my LFS to order anything specifically. It's quite expensive to ship here. But I guess I probably must...

I would imagine buying supplies and things for fish would be expensive too, is it?

Everything is more expensive here. Milk is more expensive. LOL. Anyways, yes they have GSP and saltwater puffers, and dwarf puffers. F8's are hard to find and a couple of others such as Congos as well.

Sounds alot like England with things being expensive, although the milk is reasonable here and much tastier than what it was in the US.
