Probably not. A betta's stomach is about the size of it's eye. Obesity is also dangerous and common in bettas. I've been following the directions on his food as a starter and then altering it depending on his weight. He also doesn't eat every day and I try to limit fattier foods like scallops. He is our garbage can and gets some of whatever any other fish is eating. Doesn't matter what it is he eats it without hesitation. I also make sure his diet is healthy and has a lot of variation. Pellets are all high quality with the proper ingredients and frozen food is all soaked in vitamins.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.
