Can I safely add any tank mates with the 2 figure 8 puffers that I currently have?
-(20 gallon tank, approx. 20 lbs. of lace rock, weekly 5 gal. water changes)
-Also, I was looking into a pleco to help control algae.

You are already short by 5g, with 2 puffers in there. You should be doing a minimum of 50% weekly water changes.

Plecos are strictly freshwater, so that wouldn't work anyway.

What if I take out one of the puffers? One of them has a parasite right now and I was going to take him out of the main tank to quarintine him.
