Well....

Post by lilacamy931 »

It seems my last tank is going to be much sooner and that tank is going to be for F8s :) We saw an absolute sweetheart the other day but he was snapped up by the time we had gone back for a second look and there were full grown F8s in the store today. The 3 of them, looked pretty healthy with full rounded tummies, as long as you could ignore they were in freshwater, slight ich and torn fins from being in a bare tank altogether..sigh. But the point, I dearly wanted one but felt the cycled cube 10g tank just would be too tight a fit even for a temporary measure while finding a proper 15g+ so be proud...I resisted temptation, Ive learnt the hard way and now know to do it right.

So..I'm looking for well priced tanks 15g though thinking, if got a decent 30g as there seem to be more of these about currently...could get two babies to grow...what do you guys think? Generally singletons are best though similar to GSPs there might be success if having 2 grow together from juveniles. Would love to know what you guys think, oh and of course prepared to get them freshwater and raise the salinity 0.002 with them in it all together. I was thinking even larger for 3 but dont want to overload too much and have to think of space.

Of course, I keep thinking of the dragon puffer also at the different store that has been there for months and could do with a good home...

The palembangensis sounds like a cool buy, but they are rather inactive and I would prefer the activity level of the F8..

I think several people on here keep more than one F8 in a tank with success :)

As far as getting a 15 gallon tank..You could probably find a 20, 30 gallon tank for cheap used on craigslist better than you could a 15.. to get a 15 you would probably have to buy it new for much more than you could get a used bigger tank...

That is one place havent tried bearing in mind the UK, will give it a google now as looks promising, thanks for the heads up :) I think the F8 will be the latest puff for me, now for the tank!

EDIT: I am eyeing this up

Though would have to devise my own lid out of sturdy plastic.

Ut oh, the bidding ended on that item..

But I did see a pic :) Really nice tank...but you would have had a tough time with trying to make a lid for that wavy tank...plus it looks so nice that you would want to have a nice lid to match which means x-tra $ in customizing a lid..
