Cleaning snail grave yard?
should i be cleaning all the snail shells at the bottom after ever feeding?
my puffers are still small and they just bite the snails head off and suck out a little.
then they go around and nibble on the shells. should i just leave them or take them out right away?

Re: Cleaning snail grave yard?
I would suggest giveing them snails that they can fit in there mouths instead. Snails about the same size as the puffers eyes will be able to fit entirely in their mouths; also helping them to wear down their beaks more then just sucking the snails out of the shells.

Re: Cleaning snail grave yard?
My fahaka will crush the shell to get the snail out but usually spits the shell back out

Not swallow the shell but crush it like Xray said. If you give them snails small enought to fit in there mouth then they will get more teeth wear from them. Which is one of the biggest reasons why you want to give them to'em in the first place. Not sure about SAPs but i gave my little GSPs bloodworms maybe twice a week.

Re: Cleaning snail grave yard?
you can always crush the shell with 2 spoons prior to feeding that way only the shell remains and not any "body" to contribute to the waste.

Re: Cleaning snail grave yard?
careful if you crush with your fingers. I think I have a piece of shell in my finger right now, hurts like hell
