Don't trust bank of america!
OMG NOBODY TRUST BANK OF AMERICA!!! I had fraudelent charges to my account past couple months so I got them to reverse charges which took weeks. Then I had my remaining money moved to Savings and Checking account then closed. They said took 3 business days to close. After a week it wasn't closed and Geico (Which I cancelled already) billed me again for monthly premium. If I get any charges during checking pending closing, it then reopens the account. Geico won't refund for 10 days and Bank Of America is now overdrafted $300 and overdraft protection took all of my savings out. So now I don't have my savings to pay my credit card payment. Bank of America doesn't have 24 hour service so they are making me call in ... See Morethe morning to try taking care of this. However it will take another 3 business days after it is back to 0.00 and by then I can get more fraudelent charges since it is the time of the month that this happens. I got the different numbers in the morning to get it taken care of, though if they can't freeze the account while it is pending closing I will be speaking with lawyers in the morning about this matter. However I have an extremely busy day tomorrow and this will seriously cut into mission time. I should bill Bank of America for my time wasted in small claims court...

Did you ever get an email from them asking for your banking info?

No, I belive I may have had a virus of some sort, because they had all my personal information and I do a lot of online ordering. Though I am typically very careful about only using trusted sites...Pufferpunk wrote:Did you ever get an email from them asking for your banking info?
I am a computer programmer that spent a year on network security as well as now working on maintaining a squadron wide network and being careful about scams is like my number 1 priority so I was pretty surprised when I was getting those charges. However bank of america doesn't care very much from my experience with them about their clients.

Re: Don't trust bank of america!
I have had bank of america for a long time and trust me i have had my issues. The one i hated the most they have "fixed" kinda. They used to charge you 35 dollars for even a penny of overdraft. That and they would put charges before any deposites no matter what time of day it was and then give you an overdraft even though you put a deposite in that day if it wasnt processed until the next day (which would happen quite a bit.) But their new policy is better, they only charge you if its over 10 dollars and it has been overdraft for more then 5 days. I still dont care for the bank itself and i want to switch to USAA but i deal with to many cash deposits to switch right now. I highly suggest if you dont already have bank of america then dont ever do business with them and if you can get to another bank.

Mind you that they also used the stimulus money to give outragous bonuses to their top execs. And still have ripped money away from their cotumers everytime they get a chance. The only reason they made these changes, which seems like they are finding loopholes for, is because they came under the governments eyes when they were caught fineing people twice for the same thing ( i cant remember what exactly they were chargeing for) but they had it named 2 different things when in reality it was the same fine. Also when they were busted for giveing themselfs (the executives) grossely huge bonuses with the gevernment bailout money they received.

Re: Don't trust bank of america!
I hate banks.
I currently have a checking account for one purpose - and that is because it is required to pay my car insurance. The company I deal with only accepts payments through electronic banking. I keep $5 in my account, and each month I place the payment amount in my account prior to the bill being due. Other than that, I don't use bank accounts. More often than not, all other accounts I have kept have just found ways to weasel me out of my money (fees, monthly charges, charges to use ATMs, or bank cards...)It's my money, and I intend to keep every penny, not to let someone else nickel and dime me.

i have never had problems with TD bank, the only issue i have ever had in the 5 or 6 years i have had my account with Commerce/TD was they issued new cards and didnt tell me, so i went to use my card and was declined because they stopped old cards from working. they took the block off and i could use the old card 5 minutes later. although i just turned 25 and i heard something i didnt like about them and thats when your 25 there are possibly new (ridiculous)minimum daily balances for checking and a higher monthly for savings i have to try and keep, but i konw i have taken my account lower than the minimum at least once and i didnt see any extra charges

Re: Don't trust bank of america!
Damn and I thought banks here in England were bad! At least over here, if you have anything debited from your account, the credits will always be put first, even if the debits came first. I like that part because there's been times when we wouldn't have had enough money and then had a late deposit, and thankfully the bank adds that deposit in ahead of any debits from that day.
But trust me, no bank is perfect and I can name several instances where we've had upteen million problems with our bank. The most annoying is that most every Friday, if we are at a store and trying to pay with the debit card, it will be flagged by their security and the transaction is refused -- the odd part is that we can go directly to the ATM and withdraw money, and I can make as many online purchases as I want. So their "security" is doing nothing but causing us a big inconvenience.

actually you still get overdrafted. The $10 charge is just an addon feeBcummings8521 wrote:I have had bank of america for a long time and trust me i have had my issues. Re: Don't trust bank of america!
What i was meaning to say is if you havnt overdrafted more then 10 dollars they wont charge you the overdraft fee untill 5 days later as long as its not over 10 dollars. I have kept it at -$3 for two days and no charge
Thats the way it is now thank goodness. But its still tricky. The ATM deposits say as long as its before 8pm it will hit your account. I learned the hardway that if its after 5 then the bank isnt open to process it and it doenst hit till the next day. Although it states on the ATM the 8pm thing. They remeoved 2 overdraft fees for me because of this issue and i havnt made the mistake again to let them take more of my money. I dont even want to know how much i used to give them.pufferpuggirl wrote:Damn and I thought banks here in England were bad! Re: Don't trust bank of america!
Yeah, banks that do that debits first, then credits is a joke. You can drop off your money in the night deposit and they won't credit it to your account until 5pm the next day, AFTER taking out all your payments and debits.
That's why I stick to smaller, local banks and credit unions. They generally take better care of you. My small local bank recently merged with another small, local bank (okay about a year ago). I was issued a new debit card, etc. Just recently, there were fradulent charges on my account.. but they caught them immediately and contacted me. Froze the account, and I had the $$ back in my account within 2 days and a new card on the way asap. Turns out the charges were actually made to my old, supposedly canceled debit card, not my current one.. all the bank could think of was an employee held on to the account number and didn't close the card when the banks merged, and just waited to see if they would get away with it. Because even if a scammer tried using my old card number, it should have been canceled and never gone through, but these charges did.
Don't get my started on Chase.. they are a joke and a half! I had a credit card with them that I paid off and just hung on to for emergencies. About a year after not using it, I used it to make a larger purchase. They kept denying it, even after I called and verified with them that it was me trying to use it (they called it suspicious activity, not being used for a long time then suddenly being used). When I called again, they said that the card was "shut down" because I was late on paying my balance.. my balance of something like $13 (I know it was less than $20). I said, oh really, I paid off this account a year ago, and haven't used it since, so how could I have a balance? And if I haven't been paying my balance, wouldn't you be charging me a $30 a month late fee? So I'd have a year's worth of $30 late fees, which would certainly add up to more than $13, and I would hope you'd be sending me letters and trying to call! It took over 3 weeks to get them to reactivate my account, but they still insisted I had to pay this supposed $13 balance even though they couldn't tell me what it was from or why they hadn't tried to contact me or why I hadn't received a statement in over a year (since I paid off the balance). Idiots.

I didn't know that TD had branched into the USA .. I knew they had their "Waterhouse" division that dealt with international brokers .. but having a Canadian bank invade the USA is a little unheard of until now.
