Hi,
Im newbie just bought my first GSP bloke in shop said be fine in fw now i know different im slowly changing to marine hes in 240litre tank on his own is the tank big enough for another to keep him company? Thankyou.

I would say it'd be fine for another one. For us in the states thats roughly 63 gallons and its recommended that each GSP have 30 gallons per GSP. So two would be fine. And yes full marine as they grow. But keep in mind with Marine tanks many use Live rock for filtration and youll need roughly 50lbs plus a substrate and with that you lose water volume. So its up to you....personally have two in 55gal with a sump but the rock n sand its probably less than 55gal of water so I know if they grow to 6" I may have to rehome one. So keep that in mind if you go that direction.

He would be perfectly fine by himself. IMO i would wait untill you reach full marine that way you have more options and tank capacity for other tankmates.

Yes I agree with that too! 1 puffer = less special feeding/breeding and more options. check out the pics i just posted that my 55gal (smaller than your tank with two GSP) Still young thou...

I think I will leave it and have more options when full marine just hope poor little guy doesnt get to lonely he seems happy enough though. What marine tank mates could i put with him in 240litre? Thanks again for your advice.

I'd just like to add, in case you aren't aware, that you need to add your salt very slowly and a little at a time so you don't kill your beneficial bacteria.
Just thought I would mention that so you don't end up killing your biological filter.

There are more options in marine but your also still limited with some fish being with a puffer. But clownfish, damsels, chromis do well. I have hermit crabs and a seastar with mine. But just make sure you research it before you buy it so you know what to expect. Slower moving fish and one with long tails are prone to be nipped or killed by puffers. Just make sure to asks ?S and research for care and compatibility. But like PPG said make not to raise your Salinity by no more than .002 a week or you risk crashing the biofilter.

Just added a foxface fish he doing well with my GSP's. Alotta fish will work but shrimp and gobys usually dont work. You can try a few SW snails they seem to leave them alone. Hermits too but sometime a few may end up food but theyre cheap like 1$ each here.

Just make sure whatever you add it can defend itself to balance out aggression.
