SAP wont eat Ghost Shrimp?

Post by 360º »

i put in a single ghost shrimp in with my 3 SAP

they go for him one at a time and he jumps away and they get scared off....

how do i get them to realize that he's food and they should eat him?

would it help if i didnt feed them for a couple of days?

They are not crunchy enough to be a good diet for SAPS IME.

Ghost shrimp arent good food due to the lack of anything, they are mostly water. The ghost in my 55 are to fast for Bloat

A few of my SAPs have some black dots on their bellies. Just their markings.

Ghost shrimp, if well fed by the keeper, are actually highly nutritious and an excellent food. They are not best for SAPs only because their thin shells offer too litlle crunch for the SAPs. These fish require the most dental plate erosion of any puffer I have kept.

I believe that the earlier poster was thinking of adult brine shrimp either frozen or live, which are poor nutritionally, but by attractive flavor can be used to entice newer fish to eating unfamiliar foods.

i feed my 3 puffers at least 5-6 snails a day. they bite their head off and suck out some of it, then every once in a while they nibble on the shell.
