Marine puffer eating freshwater snails
Those of you feeding marine puffs....do you feed common and ramshorn snails to keep teeth in check? Just curious if I should continue with my snail tank or not after I set up my valentini tank.

Never have. Clams and mussels... I have nassarius snails roaming the tank too. They get munched on here and there.

Yours is a stars and stripes though, they dont have the same tooth structure and ordinarily dont have the over growth issues of other puffer types if I'm not mistaken. Clams and mussels will be fed as well. They are very easy to get and dont cost much.jdak wrote:Never have. Clams and mussels... I have nassarius snails roaming the tank too. I woudn't say they grow any slower than any other marine puffer. Not that i have heard anyways. I have heard this about porcs. Which puffers are we referring to?

Porcs, dogface, s&s and the like. Just seems the larger marine puffs in general you dont much hear of tooth overgrowth. I'm just generalizing and may be wrong. Again, I havent seen much in all my research and reading as far as it being an issue for the bigger marines puffers.

Ahh, i overlooked valentini in your original post. I fed mine nassarius snail for a while. I'm not sure if it's recommended tho.
