Kenny, what kind of fertilizer do you use? Curious!

I can't use the fertilizer in this tank since it has copper and the tank has shrimp...but when I did use fertilizer; I used Flourish...

It's 2 extremes in here...high light & low tech.

I put Wendigo in the 10 since his tank crashed[and then I turned that tank salty].

He seems to be doing fine with the shrimp! He's eaten probably 90% of the worms in here so far. I don't mind that one bit...

Ya im pretty sure thats what I have. I cant seem to keep it planting, the base keeps rottening. But I have a few that havent gone anywhere cause the plant has what seem to be roats from all over that go into the ground and hold it down

yours sounds like anacharis, or at least thats what my anacharis did. they dominated the tank, but woulndt stay planted

What is it with you people and your anacharis that hates to be planted?! Mine NEVER did that and happened to love my tanks too...

Also, excellent that you got rid of the lead (Pb), there was a reason J-P asked you to ditch it: if you have soft water, below pH 7 it will slowly dissolve into the water Watch any light fittings for corrosion, too - that can dump copper into the water. Not good for puffers.

Why don't I do some comsmetic surgery on my own tanks?!!! You know, make them look nice

I tend to run in 'life support' mode or what's best for the fish. I tend to use fake plants, apart from the 'tetra tank' which is beyond a doubt, the prettiest tank I have.

i have no idea how to get anacharis to stay down!!! no matter what i do! i even put a plant holder thing on it and it still didnt stay down!! whats your secret?

Wow. hehe Thanks! I usually tend to go "life support/what's best for the fish" on my tanks too....I'm only now getting into having REAL display tanks. I guess if I'm going to convince my friends to get aquariums; I need to show them that they can be actually pretty! lol

And yeah I knew the lead was bad in an aquarium; but it was only meant to be temporary since I just had to find a strainer for the RCS so they wouldn't get in the filter and be chopped up. I didn't know that it dissolved in soft water though!

IDK I just planted them[as a bunch; not singly like I was "supposed to"] and just watched them grow. They were under 3WPG too[15w 6500k CF bulb], BTW....so that might have had something to do with it...

Angel's 5.5gal [she died and now the 5.5 is SW; but you may be able to tell that the roots just took over and they kinda planted themselves too.]:

hmm, when i planted them like that, they just floated up, and never grew roots under the gravel
