It's just personal preference. Which one do you like best?

If you have hard water in your area, go with the CT. HMs need soft water to keep their finnage from deteriorating.

I encourage you to consider adopting a betta! Lots of bettas are in foster care looking for homes. I can hook you up with a foster home if you'd like. You can get beautiful and varied tail types via adoption.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

If it's below, say, 7.5ish pH, it should be a-OK.

Contact Ren at betterplace4bettas@gmail.com. (You can tell her LGP sent you. :D) If she doesn't have what you're looking for, she'll know someone who does. Be warned, she's stringent - she'll require an application to be sure that you know how to take perfect care of the fish (http://www.ultimatebettas.com/index.php?showtopic=18075). She might not get back to you right away, since she's getting married this week and is pretty busy.

If you just want preferences then I like crowntails. We've got a CT and he's awesome :)

Sometimes people who got rescues send them to her - I sent her several after my college's bio department did an awful experiment on them. Some of them come from pet stores, but only after she kicks up a fuss, informs management that she won't patronize the store unless conditions improve and that she'll tell all her friends, and gets the fish for free. Some of them get turned in by owners who don't want them. Once she got one from a co-worker who was about to flush her office fish alive. There are all kinds of scenarios.

Yep... I know someone whose mom flushed his gerbils alive when she decided she didn't want them in the house anymore. Many people feel that animals are entirely disposable.

orchidman and I were talking earlier about a 10 gal hydroponic filterless system for the beta tank. I believe that it is possible with the correct plant selection. Any other opinions out there?
