i heard they suck up the nitrates?stilll like them good addition but must slope the bio tope

It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

You mean mangrove cuttings, I believe. Extremely salt-tolerant, and yes they do suck up nitrates. The problem is you have to keep cutting them and splitting them off, because they can bust the seams on a fish tank with root growth. They also need to grow their leaves above the waterline, so unless you have no cover on the tank and a hanging light, they'd have to go somewhere else.

Nick is correct. They are great plants but generally need an open topped tank and constant thinning out, or your tank will be in pieces on the floor someday
