Feeding bloodworms to marine fish

Post by JoseDepacos »

According to most bloodworm packaging, they are intended to be fed to freshwater fish only. I have fed them to my yellow watchman a couple of times now and he really likes them. I thought perhaps I should look into it a bit more because I dont want to cause him any harm. Did a couple searches and could only come up with the fact that they CAN be fed to marine fish, they just spoil faster in salt water. Anyone have any feedback or experiences to share?

Blood worms are fine to feed to marine fish. How ever they shouldn't be more than a occasional snack. I forget exactly what its called, but they lack marine based proteins or something like that which marine fish need.

Mysis is a better option.

I soak them in Selcon & SW Vita-Chem, to boos them with the SW vits & amino acids they require.

I wouldnt use them as a staple. I do feed them to my salt tank and F8's a couple times a week though. I also keep mysis, brine and krill as far as frozen. Ok, thanks for the input. I didnt figure I was doing any harm.
