What do zebra plecos go for in the States? Here they're hundreds of dollars each and apparently they're very skittish and do best kept in groups. Very very expensive

You will also want an alternative arrangement for the betta. I've never been able to keep tetras and bettas together, tetras are nippy.

Sounds like it would be very nice if it worked though Does anyone else have a better experience with bettas and neons?

If I make it into the LFS, I'll ask em if they can get them - and how much.

Flutter: The true ones I imagine are 200$[plus the overnight shipping costs]...may want a few instead of one. They'd be awesome to breed and since my fish; I could sell them for a quarter [or less] of what I actually paid for them...IDK yet...

My mom is also very worried about the betta being in a 72 with a 4-500GPH filter...lol.

No idea of another centerpiece fish because the only other fish I would want [german blue rams or koi angelfish] would eat the poor little green neons...I believe they are too expensive/pretty to just be eaten to.

Ohyouknow: I'll cover it...I actually wanted to get a few more spare plants[gotta trim the 55 now] and I still have to collect the pond snails anyways...it's a work in progress..lol I see atleast 10 just...being in my 10gal...how many did you want exactly? And I'm going for a real zebra pleco BTW. Those others look too much like the clown plecos I have[that I'm going to get rid of].

I saw the real black and white ones - very pretty - on ebay and such even, for $195 or so, for all of the above. It would be awesome if you could breed them - for sure. I must not have linked the page I found:

And alright, was just offering. I just want some snails, I wanna see if they will breed in the tank I am setting up. I don't want to set it up too soon though, and just have it sitting, empty. I suppose whenever is fine, I'm in no rush - just letting you know if you feel you are ready to disperse stuff, There are options

It may be fine with that as long as the current isn't too strong. We have our spraybars facing the wall instead of across the tank. This way our angels can still swim. Without changing the angle our angels were plastered to the far wall That way you can have the same turnover without the current.

Will the rams eat the neons? Ours are full grown (at least I think they are) and definitely couldn't fit a neon in their mouths.

Flutter: I might have to trade that canister filter for something alittle smaller because I kinda fear the substrate would be pushed away and if I do MTS[mineralized top soil]; it'll go everywhere.

I'm pretty sure green neons are 1/2 the size of adult "jumbo" neons so I think they are a pretty easy target for most fish...

I figure the betta *CAN* eat them; but tetras seem faster then bettas[which leads to the point either the tetras or betta could get hurt and I'd rather forgo either then either getting hurt]. And that's a cute story about the angels! Mine actually LOVE the current; but the filter is only like 300GPH or so...probably less...and is a HOB filter.

Ohyouknow: Thanks for the link! I'm now sooo excited to get a trio. How big is your snail tank BTW? And IDK if I've ever asked you before; but what size tank is Vicious in? He's a pretty Fahaka.

Thanks! Right now Vicious is in a 23 gallon, with 2 big water changes a week. With the job I am getting, and wonderful Craig's List & Ebay at hand, I will be able to afford a tank in no time. There is one 150 gallon tank close to me for $450 I could get, with stand and all - never used. However, if tips aren't adding up fast enough, I think I may have a 150gal I can get for $175... with gravel and such in it already. I'm checking with the 2nd option to see the condition of the tank (photos) and if it has a filter and such I may go that route - and build my own stand. I'm VERY excited, he'll have his 'dream home' in no time, and I'll have my DP tank soon enough. (the 10gallon will be mine for dp's, and my daughter's fish will migrate to the 23gal- my fahaka to his new 150 - as soon as it's decorated and cycled!)

Kind of funny, at the job interview today, Vicious helped me get the job. She asked, "if you could name one animal that describes you, what would it be and why. You can't say, "monkey, cat, dog or fish." Be specific.." I drew a blank, ummm... "fahaka puffer," I said... "it's a fish that is loyal, active, observant and always hungry for more. I feel I am very loyal- to my company and my customers, observant and stay on my toes to serve my employer, make them money and in turn, make me money." I left out the part where they are coniverous and kill anything in their path, but she was VERY impressed... then asked wth a Fahaka Puffer was LOL...

I'd love to have zebra pleco's, and breed them too. They are stunning! When you get them I want lots of pics, and I'll be a happy GodParent if you let me!

My snail tank thus far is a simple Critter Cage, XL. It's behind my tank currently, so that the aerator is close - It has 2 hoses to aerate from the unit, and I can have the bubbles in my tank as well as the snail breeder as well. Once I get my big stand, and new tank setup, the snail breeder will be on the shelf under the tank (cinderblock stand like Meggypuff did.)

I really don't know what a godparent is...lol...but I'll give you a few babies[you just have to pay for shipping] if I ever get them to breed. Hopefully I can get them shortly after the 72 is up and running. I feel really bad about my 55gal right now because half those fish won't even make it to the bucket without spontaneously dying. They are soo old [5-7 years]. The Plecos will be my "feel-better" fish and get me away from the standard albino-cory-type fish.

You know this is my first time ever having RCS and I was soooo excited when I opened the box and saw them. I know that's lame; but that's how long I've been in "normal" fish. It's really time for a change!

Oh and I thought that was awesome how Vicious helped you get the job! I love animals...I'm probably a betta...I dislike most others of my kind...hahaha

those zebra pleco's are awsome looking.

I loved having RCS's right up till in introduced my betta. Then he felt they were his personal snack, 20 RCS's later, I didnt have any other tank to move them to.

Hmm, I suppose a God parent is maybe a religious thing to a certain extent... I'm a God-mother, and have God-parents. As one, I am trying to be a good role-model for my god-daughter, and help her find her way in life, be a friend, but yet guide her... My God-parents were merely my aunt and uncle, who made sure to give me the card on my birthday/holidays with money inside. My parents described it as, "if anything ever happened to them, my God-parents would be sure I was taken care of."

I suppose that's a grand responsibility to take on for someone's fish who lives over 24 hours of drive- time away (takes about that long for me to hit Fort Meyers, FL... Just an idea.)... You are awful generous, Kenny lol

Have you ever tried the 'clear baggie' to transport fish? I find it hard to net out any fish - I own a net for netting OTHER stuff out, but when I try to take my fish out of a tank, I use a ziplock bag. It seems to be much less stressful, they don't seem to 'see' the baggie like a looming net zooming at them. It's clear. That, or a large plastic glass... with my puffer (for now) I make sure to get all the air out of my giant plastic cup, and ease it down over my puffer... scoop it out. Maybe it would work for your old geezers? Just a thought

yea, I hate chasing fish around, tearing up my tank or beating up the fish... Saw someone on Youtube with an actual 'net' that was simply a soft plastic 'net' without holes; couldn't even see anything but the wire rim in the water. The Betta (snowball) she extracted from the tank hardly seemed to notice it was even caught, and didn't try to get out of it when put into the new tank.
