How do you QT plants?

I do not want to make this mistake again... so I would like to QT some new plants I got from the nursery. How do I know when they are ready?

The first pic is an emersive plant I have hanging in a breeder net. I would like to do the same with these but don't want to add it to the main tank right away.

Any Ideas?

The second is called a Water Hyacinth ( Eichhornia crassipes ). Yes it is a pond plant. I'm going to try to keep it in my main if and when I think it is ready

I'd be interested in this too. We just put in an online order for plants and we don't want to risk anything. I was just thinking of doing a peroxide dip. Hopefully someone could chime in if they think that's enough.

My plant QT is the same as my fish QT, but likely to be longer. I want the plant established and growing well under my care before i even consider moving it to my regular tanks. I would say ~6 weeks minimum, a couple of months more commonly.

But then, I am anal-retentive about such things. I just will not risk my displays under any circumstances.

For me water hyacinth is difficult indoors. It eats light. But it is a great nutrient sponge and fry nursery.

I have read 1:20 bleach water ratio I think is what is used, for about 2 minutes. One can also use potassium permanganate.

Our shop had 3 choices:
Water hyacinth
Parrot Feathers
and some kind of wort.

I purchased 2 Hyacinth and 1 clump of Parrot Feathers.
