help please
Thanks for the info on how to test the salinity of my tank. I bought a hydrometer and read the instructions. I filled it with water and the white arrow inside is reading 1.004 for specific gravity. I do not understand where the reading is for salinity? Can anyone please explain how this thing works. Thanks me

Re: help please
Specific gravity is the measurement of salinity in your water. What fish are you keeping?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: help please
That is the salinity. Are you looking for the ppt reading? That means that .4% of your water volume is salt. What levels were you looking to achieve? Marine is above 1.020

Re: help please
Thanks i feel so stupid but you've gotta learn some way
I have a 15 gallon tank two gsp's . I got them from wal mart the only place i have seen them in town. I am so sad when i go back into wal mart because they have about 8 gsp's in a 10 gallon tank and they are not looking healthy wish i could bring them all home and take care of them. anyway I am trying to get the correct salinity for these two guys i know that eventually they will need complete salinity but they are still pretty small. they make me so happy when i get home from work to see them come out of their little cave and wag their fins at me. My avatar reminded me of them because i could hear them crunching with those big teeth the first time i fed them they are so cuuuute but so voracious.

Re: help please
Curious....you know your tank is WAY too small for those gsp's right?

Re: help please
They are slow growers, but being in a small tank early on in life will stunt them to some extent. I know, I've been there & done it with my first GSP. He lived till 10 years old, but never got bigger than 3" (inc tail).
