Overflow with plants

Post by Mezzovex »

my 125g tank has a built in overflow. I was wondering if anybody had the problem with the teeth getting plugged up with plant matter and overflowing the tank to the ground. Thats my biggest worry about putting plants into that tank. I love the way plants look in a tank and would love to get my fahaka some greenery. :D
Tanks I currently own:

125g freshwater tank w\ 30g sump, 840gph pump, ocean clear canister filter,
20" fire eel, and Dib the Fahaka

55g freshwater tank w\ Magnum 330 filter
Tigger the South American Puffer

5.5g nano saltwater tank
Clean up crew + coral + a strawberry dottyback

I am constantly cleaning out my filter strainers for tanks with live plants.

mmk, im thinking about making a prescreen for mine. to keep the bulk of it out to the overflow itsself. I was going to use that craft plastic canvas and some fishing string to tie it. I just got to do some mesurements.

I did the prescreen with mine and it clogged :( water everywhere!

The safest way is a redundant overflow. If one clogs the other catches it.

I think it was a couple months after, that I finally wasn't waking up in the middle of the night for fear of an overflow.
if you follow me, you avoid stepping in the crap that I just did...
