This is a sad day for me :o(
Woke up this morning to go on the computer, my red eye puffs tank for Mr. Puff is near the computer so he usually greets me, but this morning I had found him belly up
Not sure why he died though, he had some food the other day and nothing new has bee added to his tank. He just has himself and a ghost shrimp with him. He was roughly an inch long. I will take some water tests, but this tank was always perfect for water peramiters though. So sad, I'm gonna miss Mr. Puff

I'm so sorry to hear that
very sad day indeed!
Hopefully you can find the culprit, although seems strange if no changes have been made that he'd go that quick. Maybe he had a bad ticker

Well I did the water test and all was perfect. Although I found a penny that my 1 1/2 yr old must have dropped in
Not sure if that would have killed Mr. Puff, wht do you guys think? There were alittle bit of bubbles on the top edges, not sure if its from the filter or if he put alittle bit of soap in it. My oldest decided to clean the fish I had in threr a long time ago we I first got the tank lol. So I decided to take everything out, I removed the gravel and put in some sand instead. Basically I'm thinking of just re-cycling the tank just to be safe, the sad thing is my lonely ghost shrimp is still alive and lonely, he lost his room-mate.

I was just wondering, what should I get to put into Mr. Puff's old home, 10g tank? I know its so soon after he passed to think of what to put in there but it looks so empty and its sad to look at it and know that Mr. Puff is gone, he had the funniest personality. He was my first puff and the one that got me hooked on this hobby, I actually feel really sad :'o( I so miss my little buddy

Awww... so sorry for your loss.
Yes, copper is very toxic to puffers.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

So then it's a good thing just to re-cycle the tank then? I also put in sand instead of the gravel that was in his home, it looks cooler but he would have loved the sand :'o( Now just gotta wait for it to re-cycle, fishless of course with stability and filter media from another tank. Roughly how long should it take to fully cycle?

Forget Stability. It is difficult to remove copper. Start with all new decor/substrate.

Re: This is a sad day for me :o(
Awwe, My daughter did that to one of my tanks once upon a time. I was actually out of town visiting my grandmother (we were living at my boyfriend's parents at the time) and she had a handful of pennies from the laundry room... the ones fished out of the wash after a load, and they had that nice filmy soapy junk on it. 5 or 6 of those bad boys in there for 1 day - wiped the tank. I wasn't sure if it was the copper or the soap, but it did it quick.
Sucks to hear it happened to you too, I found out ours happened because grandma didn't think it would hurt anything and told her to make "wishes in her wishing well..."
If you use media (filter) from another tank it could be a pretty quick cycle, I'd toss a shrimp in a nylon (or something) for the extra load to speed it up. I wouldn't rush replacing him, (if it were me) but I bet it wouldn't take long to find some new puffer-dog eyes to get me to fall in love and take them home.

Re: This is a sad day for me :o(
Well at the moment it's no big rush, not gonna have money to buy any fish for another week and a half. The lfs I bought Mr. Puff from doesn't get those puffs in alot, so I don't know if I'll get another like him, also it would be hard to get another one that looked like Mr' Puff
( What other puffs could I keep in the 10g? I was considering getting some kuhli loaches maybe? Dunno yet, any suggestions would be awsome
Im glad to know what caused my wee puff to pass, I just wish the penny was never dropped in there.

This is what I did, I took out the gravel and put in sand, I rinsed all the decor in hot water to clean it, and I rinsed the tank in hot water. Hopefully the copper is no more. I hope, wht do u think PP, should that be ok to get the copper gone? I just don't have the money to get new decor.

As long as the sand was added after the penny.
