PETA Public Service Announcement
Do you support PETA? If you do now, you might not after you see this website and other information on PETA.
Ask yourself these questions:
-Do you eat meat?
-Do you eat or use any animal products? (Do you use leather or certain brands of makeup?)
-Do you believe that it's all right for animals to work for people (farm horses, service dogs, homing pigeons...)
-Do you believe that *any* form of animal testing is all right?
-Do you visit zoos or aquariums?
-Are you against the burning of pet stores and other acts of terrorism?
-Are you against the euthanization of adoptable pets?
-Do you have pets or support pet ownership?
If you have answered "yes" to any of these questions, you might want to look at the link below:
http://petakillsanimals.com
Please, if you support PETA financially or in any other way at this point, reconsider! Your local no-kill shelter or Humane Society (or any other number of organizations) can and will put your money and/or volunteer time to much better use!

"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: PETA Public Service Announcement
I am proud to say I have never supported PETA.
I eat meat, eggs, drink milk.
I enjoy the deer meat that comes from the deer my family hunts.
I enjoy fishing, and I fish with live bait - sometimes with minnows or chubs.
I am a proud pet owner.
I support euthanization of sick or suffering animals, and I understand that sometimes unadopted pets sometimes have to be euthanized to make room for more animals.
I own a leather handbag, and a pair of leather boots.
I sleep in a bed with a down comforter.
Once, PETA sent me a little envilope stuffed with rediculous, cruel information aimed to be intercepted or taught to children. In these fliers and booklets, it was describing fishing the same as kidnapping - telling children that if they go fishing and catch a fish, they are kidnapping the baby fish from their families. They said it is the same thing as having a hook stabbed through your hand and a stranger towing you away from your family. (Yes, they even included the painful hook stabbing.)
In theory, I could understand if they want to save the whales or baby seals - or mistreated animals of course. However, using crude examples and frightening stories to scare children into following their skewed ideas is outrageous.
Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone - but I do find PETA just as offensive (if not more) than they find me.

Re: PETA Public Service Announcement
LOL
Don't get me wrong PolishPuff, it's not like I want those poor animals to die at all - but coming from someone who had a dog for 15 years - there came a day where it came down to the choice of putting her down, ending her misery and pain (literally whimpered with each step, couldn't hold her bowels..) it was time. We all got to say goodbye and got to go in our loving embrace. I couldn't think of a better alternative.
Now, taking a litter of kittens - tie them in a gunny sack and tossing them into the river - no, in no way could I condone that.
But, there are a LOT of animals - and not enough money to support them or their upkeep in a healthy way.
Say no to breeder farms, and spay and neuter your pets!

I in no way support PETA, Both my dogs will be fix'd and when we looked into getting dogs we adopted from a private person, no breeder, and no pet stores, there are way to many animals being breed for profit

Thanks for sharing that LGP.
The thought of PETA killing innocent animals versus finding them good homes just makes me sick to my stomach!

Oh, I got one of the lines wrong. It should have been this: "-Do you eat or use any animal products? (Do you use leather or certain brands of makeup?)" Oh, and I meant to make some of those negatives... Dang it, edit again...

Re: PETA Public Service Announcement
Okay, fixed it.
I myself answered "yes" to all of my questions. I eat humanely raised meat, and when I do all my own shopping, I will make sure that all of my animal products come from humanely treated animals. (CERTIFIED ORGANIC products have great standards for animal treatment, by the way!!!) I have a dear friend with a psychiatric service dog, and that dog is spoiled rotten. She treats it better than herself. I believe that non-cruel animal testing can be acceptable. Most of us would not be alive without some form of animal testing. I LOVE zoos and aquariums. I don't understand why anyone would bomb a store full of living pets! PETA claims that pets are better off dead than with people, and they have euthanized thousands of animals, even though they were fully adoptable, and only placed a tiny number in adoptive homes. I whole-heartedly support pet ownership, though I have qualms about some wild-caught species, and of course I think that some species kept as pets are best left in the wild. I can't stand PETA! Myself, I'm one of the People for the Eating of Tasty Animals. I also support animal welfare. "Total animal liberation" is just absurd, and PETA's methods are even more absurd. Bombing? Risque commercials about vegetarians having better sex, so explicit that the Superbowl wouldn't air them? Euthanizing dogs and cats that have been domesticated for millennia because they're "better off" dead than in a symbiotic relationship with humans? Terrorizing children? The only thing they've done is give animal rights and welfare activists a bad reputation. Well, that, and killed some butchers and pet store employees...

It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.
