Well, artificial sweeteners are pretty nasty, and WW recommends them a lot. I've been using Stevia, which comes from a plant (literally, ground-up plant leaves - I'm growing it in my backyard) instead of a lab, and it's very safe and sugar-free. I think that WW should start using Stevia and other non-artificial sweeteners and recommend them to members. I think that they should also suggest that people eat fewer processed foods. Some diet products that WW makes are a little scary - "How can THAT be just one point?"

But other than that, I think that it's GREAT from a nutritional standpoint.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

No one says you have to use WW as your plan of eating. It just seems to work for us. In OA we get a sponsor & find a plan that works for us as individuals. I can't eat any processed sugar, not even a little. No desserts of any kind for me. I haven't even tasted one bite of any cake, candy or especially chocolate, in almost 2 years. The cravings for that left me a long time ago. It is also important for me to identify any foods that may cause me to binge & stay away from them too. That is how I define my abstinence, along with a commitment to exercise 3x/week.

Yep, I did say it's good for many, just not me :) If that's what works for someone then that's awesome. We need to do what works as long as it's safe and I'm sure that WW is safe (minus all the artificial sweetener stuff...).

Maybe I shouldn't have made cake the other day

I got my belly button pierced today! Finally! And I'm getting my tattoo in a month or so. It'll be on my back, a little blue-and-green planet with the word "LOVE" written around it over and over, because love makes the world go round!

Nope, this place takes walk-ins. Today and the other time I went, I just called ahead to make sure they had time. They have a lot of people on the staff.

wow all this talk about weight watchers - OA is crazy if i lose to much weight i would not be able to play my sport...... when i was younger my mom tried to get me on WW but i did not really need it the doctor told me that if i lost all the fat, muscle in my body id still weigh 280 because of my skeleton alone im 325 atm. I was 340lb at the beginning of last summer i lost 20 lbs then i gained 15 back in muscle mass. i do watch what i eat tho, even tho i weigh so much its good weight. i dont eat any fried foods no fake foods aka McDonalds even tho im a college student i have a apt and i cook my dinner every night to ensure i eat good carbs not empty ones. plus i work out 5 times a weeek and i run 3 out of those 5 days. so its impossible for me to do weight watchers or OA i mite Die ! :(

I actually had a 'henna' tatoo, once. Got it in Cyprus. It was of a seahorse/dragon combo. If I wanted a real one, I think I'd like to design my own but I cannot beat the temporary one I had. It had TEETH

Also - I'd like to share this: my wife went up to 15 stone on a five foot nine frame and had a gastric bypass. She's now ten stone and hasn't been happier. Quite drastic, but I supported her with her decision. I couldn't care what weight she is but she was worried about future health complications.

That's so sweet of you Soggy. My SO says that too but I don't believe him, I can't understand how he could be ok with that.

So far with my new job I've gained weight but I think it's mostly muscle as I believe I've lost some fat. I'm hoping to start running or going to the gym soon, going to try running first though. Need to ride more too :)

Umm, you should believe your SO. It's all airbrushed models and adverts and media and stuff, being twig thin is not always attractive from my own viewpoint. The 'cuddly' size can be quite nice :)

I married her for her brain - she is only just doing a uni degree, but I have the sneaky feeling that she is more intelligent than I am.

A man once wrote to Dear Abby and said, "I'd rather date a large woman" (person, I suppose) "than one of those sticks in the magazines!"

And if a person loves you, they think you're perfect-looking, no matter what you might actually look like.
What you actually look like is a matter of fact, what determines attractiveness is cultural an opinion. It is an oddity we can not escape form.
