Doing two new puffer tanks, pricing ?s
I'm looking to order a Congo for my 75 and a fahaka for my 140, just wondering what kind of prices i should be expecting for these fish. Don't worry, my tanks are cycled and massively overfiltered, these fish will have good homes.

I can't comment on prices because they are different in the UK, but just wanted to say you will be happy with the Congo and the Fahaka.

I own a little Fahaka, I got it at about 2 inches. The LFS retail price is $22.00 (found out later, he got sold to me for way cheaper as the tank was mislabeled and the kid working had no clue. $7 thanks!) I've seen them various other places, some online shops sell them for $20-$35 - I think one Ebay store had them for $35-$45 - with a $35 shipping or something... Do you plan on trying through a LFS, or shopping online as well? I've also noticed some stores online say they are not covered by their Live Arrive Guarantee. Just some food for thought. I don't know about the congos.
If you do have a LFS, you might want to inquire to see if they can order in your fish for you. Some stores will, some won't.

I paid $20 for a starving 1" fahaka, 8 years ago. As far as the miurus, it depends on what color you're looking for. If you want bright red, it may be difficult to find. the LFS around here wanted $200 for one but I found mine online for $50 + shipping.

I have 3 LFS to go through, but there's no way I can afford a bright red Congo this paycheck. Pufferpunk, can you just give me yours? Lol. Your Congo is what made me want one, such a beautiful fish!

I'm not sure where "quad cities" is, but if you're in the northern part of the state and don't mind a trip to Milwaukee, there's a store that nearly always has fahakas in stock, Aquatics Unlimited. Generally they have young ones in the $25-40 range I believe, but its been a while since I was there (they keep a current stock list online though.. http://www.bestfish.com)
Congos are harder to find.. I have only seen a handful of them over the years.. so you might expect to have to order those in online. I don't think they'd be too expensive, but if you have them shipped, overnight shipping costs are what will get you. So if a store can order them, go that route for sure! But don't assume they will be able to get them, or even that they'll get in the right species if something does come in!
