Abei Tank Setup

Post by lilacamy931 »

Ok only puffs available right now are Abei and suvatti and considering settling on one of these. The abei in question is out and about quite abit. One question though what sort of set ups are they good with, as originally thinking lurker, I have a resin tree root and live plants but then open sand/swimming area. How does this sound? Sorry to sound so vague"

If you want a suvattii, then you need to leave space for him to bury himself, but if you want the Abei, then burying isn't an issue. I've got loads of plants in the Abei tank, but a minimum of tank decorations in my suvattii tank. So I would think it really depends which puffer you want to settle on.

Hmmm It does make sense, I am seeing what locally they can get for me this week and see which happens congo or abei, though heading towards abei. How does the tank look currently, too open spaced for an abei? I took alot of plants out as it was far too messy

There are more plants to go in if sparse and of course can open it up further for a congo.

P.s. It is looking more like an abei, more plants added.

I'm sure an Abei would be very happy in there, looks very inviting. :)

Personal opinion, I think there needs to be more decor to create overhangs and holes he can sit under and swim through with for example bogwood. Mine hated open spaces and was more comfortable with a more densely packed decor. Yours may be fine though, just thought id mention it.

Thanks very much guys all opinions welcome. @Hilly I did think so too and there is some denser growth in there now.

I think I am pretty decided on the abei, only had offer on one congo for £100 and felt this is quite steep..
