How old are your tests? Most tests (but not all, like Tetra) have a before-date. Test can get old, and then they will give wrong readings (i.e. lower readings than what's right). I am aware that you got nitrate readings in your snail tank, but that can be the test showing a reading too low there too.
The test isnt old at all. I ran the same test on the snail tanks and got 0,0,15 readings

Are you shaking the crap out of the second bottle of the nitrate test before adding it? I find that the most easily forgotten step, maybe because of the shaking of the tube after the first agent is added. The reactive agent in bottle two for nitrates is a suspension, not a solution, so it must be shaken really hard for a full half minute to catch low nitrate readings at all.

That's really weird, at this point as long as they all seem okay Id say your doing an awesome job. Just keep a close eye on the tank, and test daily for a while.

you Nitrate won't show right away after adding the fish. It will have to go through 2 cycles first.. it will show after a few days at best.
I know you are not cycling, but when I was setting up I tested daily for Ammonia and Nitrite... and ignored the Nitrate. After I started seeing the numbers I tested for Nitrate. That could take a week to a month to show up.

i know that but my tank was cycled and was giving me 0,0,10 readings but not after switching over to my cannsiter filter, i cant get any nitrate readings.
Ok so should I be concerned? It has been several days since I noticed no nitrate. Tested both tanks and the puffer tank shows 0 for all and the snail tank shows 10 for nitrate.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. maybe test weekly or 2x per week. Do you know what the canister is using as filter media? I wonder if there is an ethanol cartridge in there.
