I would have never have though that much gas could have built up in a filter system, was there quite an expanse of pipe? Sorry about the dog.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog! :grouphug: That's one hard lesson to learn. I would never have believed it could be that dangerous. How long did it take between turning off the filter and trying to remove it?

Yeah the pipe was about 15 feet total length. My pup found the noise of the hacksaw irritating and had her nose to the area was cutting, trying to nip at the top part of the saw (not the blade). When I broke through the pipe entirely the poor girl was mid bay and took a big deep breath just as the gasses started to leak. My kids were in the same room and I shooed them outside, came back and the pup was lying on the floor gasping and the wife was on the phone to the FD. The Vet thinks this was a combination of things that eventually led to a heart attack. The shock of the noxious over load of the hounds nose, the heavy gas in the lung, and her being terrified. I didn't know that some dogs can go in to shock from odors that strong....

My male beagle (her brother) is absolutely inconsolable right now. Stopped eating and does nothing but sleep on her side of the sofa or on my lap. I may have to find another female beagle to take her place to keep him going..... :(
