My bubble tip Anemone..

I've got a very strange anemone.. When i just got him/her, he/she was red.. just like it should be.. but when i put it in a new aquarium, with more light, he/she turn into a pink beauty ( i don't mind! )

When he/she get some food, he/she turns into the strangest sizes.. like yesterday this one:

To bad i can't copy, it's to hard to understand al the text without translation.. Some people also told me it was because of to many light. But i dont understand, when it was 240lt it has as much light as now.. and now he is only 110lt..

Maybee because i don't use osmosis water? I give my anemone the same food as my puffer.. I cut it very fine and give it with a needle thing ( without the needle ) so i don't know what he/she wants than..

What kind of light are you using? Where do you keep your water temperature?

What kind of light do you have over it currently? They need very high light, 110 liters/29gallons, you are going to want something like a 150watt+ HQI MH or as many T5s as you can fit (with individual reflectors).

Defiantly bleached, this happens when there is not enough light for the anemone, it looses the Zooanthellae algae, which is a symbiotic algae that feeds the anemone. This happens with corals as well. For instance I gave a frag of kenyan tree to a friend to just test if his tank could even keep a easy coral, with in a week the kenyan turned pure white and shrank.

Food and more light will help it recover. RO/DI will help. Check water parameters, high nitrates may also cause this.

Oh and to copy stuff from her website, just high light and hit control-c then paste in to the translator with control-v.

Anyway, i think i understand the most But that HQI.. i dont know why that should be.. a rule is 1 watt per ltr.. i have 3 x 30watt and 1 x 18 watt. And that was the same when the tank was 240ltr.. And in that time my anemone was just red. I have anemones for 2.5 year now, and never i had so much light as i have now..

I'm not sure what you read about HQI but it means means hydrargyrum quartz iodide but usually just referring to a double ended metal halide. I have 500 watts on 174liter tank so it's not too crazy. A 150w hqi would only be one bulb over your whole tank. It's not as much as you would think. LOL... who told you too much lighting?

Simply not enough light! Watts per gallon means pretty much nothing. Its all about PAR rating, that is how much photo-active radiation, or how much usable light actually penetrates the water. You are going to need at least a high output T5 4-6 bulb system like one of these:

That or metal halides. Anemones need as much light as the most demanding stony corals!
