Excel will work as a carbon source. As a bonus it's also an algaecide. Also, it's not considered a fertilizer. There are three fertilizers which are potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorous. The others aren't fertilizers.

I bought a 4L jug of Excel for a great price during boxing week. Done like that it can be quite affordable ;)
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Don't know if you were referring to me but I just mentioned it was like a fert. Definately not one though.

Polish, is this your first planted tank?

that is normal ... they are starting to propagate and you will have new ferns soon. That is how they grow and divide. That means you have a healthy tank.

Don't worry about it. Let them go their job and you will have enough to sell off ;)

Those are cool. Would be nice for a 40 gallon since they kinda get big.

I suggest http://www.aquahobby.com/garden/e_Lysim ... aria_1.php they get about a foot and a half tall and drape over the top of the tank when fully grown. They divide into several branches when they get bigger and those can be pulled of planted as a new plant. I love them.

I don't know ... maybe the puffer like the Arizona look ;)

My some of my plants have holes also, but it is so dense that you really can't see it without looking closely.
