that KH reading ... if I am correct 15 ~16 = Gkh (German scale in 5 ml of water .. 10 ml = /2) which is what I use and that is OK.

How are you translating / converting that?

I figure DkH of ~12, which I think is very high, I keep mine at ~9. Why did you add a nem to as new tank that isn't stable yet anyway? And why was your tank off overnight?

it was off all night BC the nem was blowing around. I turn it on twice thruout the night. And had a bubbler going. Before that the tank was fine. I tested everything last night using the API drip tests. I think I need a water softer/buffer right? So I can lower it. Im still waiting on my RO/DI unit to come

What got your alk that high in the 1st place? What are you dosing? What kind of salt are you using? What SG?

You kept ALL the flow off? That could really wreak havoc with a reef system. The #1 most important thing for a living reef is flow. more important than light or heat.

I know I feel like a real Dummy. I was second guessing doing that too... Too late now. Lesson learned. I'm gonna do another WC as I can see some ammonia creeped back up. Still very low thou.

I am using instant ocean sea salt and today just got a new bucket of instant ocean reef crystals. Although that hasn't been used in the tank yet. My carbonate hardness took about 15 drops to turn from blue to bright yellow. Urine colored...sorry that's the only way I can describe it. The guy said I should only need 10-12 drops. I haven't dosed anything at all except for 5ml of purple up about 2weeks ago/3 WC ago and some melafix around the same time while I was trying to heal a bruised clownfish. But most of that I'd thought would made it's way outta the system. Calcium tested around 500.

Im hoping it'll survive. Today it appears to be digging into the sand next to live rock. I will do another large WC today too. But...it appears there's a clear slime coming for the bottom of the nem..???

What kind of light are you using anyways?

T5 ho it's uhh all built in one with two actinic and to white and moonlights. LFS said it's the best one and I could use any corals with it.

I think hes fine now he ate a piece of shrimp and has dug into the sand in the back of my tank next to some live rock. All the tenticles are full and out aswell. All the other fish are alot happier today and swimming about and eating normal now. thanks for the help everyone

Well that LTA is alive but not well so a few days ago I traded him back to my LFS to try and save him. In exchange I got what I really wanted....A ROSE BTA. And its doing amazingly well, nicely attached and my clowns are so happy. Theyre actually sharing this one. I read that the RBTA doesnt need supplemental feeding on a few sites. Has anyone found this to be true???
