Wait till your at 1.020sg then add a few pieces of live rock. Not all of it at once. Like 25-50% now then more in a week or so. This helps the rock adjust aswell as your tank. If you add too much to quickly it can crash your bioload. And if at all possible keep it wet as possible while transfering. Mine came in a cooler wrapped with wet newspaper and it still wasn't enough. Made my tank get an ammonia spike from all the dieing stuff falling out of the rock. Make sure when adding live rock you test your water daily. If you see the slightest bit of ammonia do a WC immediatly. And keep doing that till things restabalize. One thing I wish woulda done thou was make a batch of 1.020 water to rinse my rock off in. You should do that it'll help get any loose garbage of the surface. Check the SG of the water your LR is coming from too. Shouldn't be no higher or less than .002 of what your tank is...

Good advice, except: Don't use that fresh batch of SW just to rinse your rock in. Take water from the tank for rock rinsing in a bucket & add the fresh SW to replace what you removed. ;)

How large is the tank? You could buy a bunch & cure it as per that article.

Depends on what is smells like--really! Get it up close to your nose & take a whiff. If it smells bad at all, don't buy it & pick another piece. If it all smells bad, then you're gonna have to cure it in A bucket. Either way, i wouldn't buy more than 5lbs at a time, just in case your sniffer is bad.

I bought 20 lbs yesterday and they actually charged me more for uncured, then cured... it was peculiar.

I wouldn't always trust that is is cured. Probably was just at their store a week longer.
