A friend just purchased them from Walmart about 4 hrs ago. She said she's fed them "nuisance snails" and Baby shrimp.
I thought they looked quite "flat" and I didn't think they looked like Dwarfs either, but i'm obviously no expert, nor do I have any Puffers of my own. I'm a betta kinda girl... lol.
This friend called me for help, I didn't have any to give, so came here. LOVE the interent!
Intestinal parasites had not crossed my mind. Ugh.
My Puffers: Puffers I have kept: T lineatus T miurus A modestus T biocellatus C valentini C coranata C papuan C lorteti DPs suvattii burrfish T niphobles
What size tank does she have them in? Was it cycled? How?
They may not have IPs--could have just been fed flakes at the store, as they have no idea how to care for/feed them.
Tank size: 10 gallon
Tank mates: none
cycled: yes, 3 wks prior intended for a betta sorority so the water is not yet "brackish".
fishless cycle, not sure how, someone told her to put a sponge or something, hell I guess I don't know... sorry. Maybe i should get back to you on this one.
Can you send the friend that owns the puffers over here? That would be best There's probably several people here wiggling in their seats to help out
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

She has no internet, but I will be sure and invite her here to use mine first thing in the morning.
It should be illegal to sell something that you don't have a clue how to care for, or what it even is! She was told they are dwarfs, will do just fine in a 10 gallon FRESHWATER tank. :::sigh::: but at the same time you shouldn't buy anything if you don't know what you're getting into. Guess all the hate shouldn't fall on Walmart huh.
