Most soft corals that do not form a mat, can and will move.

Needed to put a comma there...

Some corals like GSP form a mat, they cover the rock, and you can peel the mat off the rock with out killing the coral, so I was saying those types of corals are easy to glue to the glass or overflow.

Oic thx again. I was wondering. Cuz I didn't get an answer yet. My clown was a lil beat up at the store. No ich or anything. But I wanna add melafix to fix him up. I will turn off my skimmer for the time being and my powerhead should stay on? Will it harm my zoas, mushroom, snails, hermit crabs, live rock???? I will be doing a half doses as well bc my gsp are In the same tank.

I wouldn't add that to a reef personally. I don't know if the bottle claims its okay but i just wouldn't. You could use it in a quarantine setup.

I do t have. Qt yet. I do have a 1 gal fish bowl. I could put him in that maybe? And dose that and change the water daily?

I don't think a 1gal will cut it. Maybe a 5gal bucket but why do you need to dose it anyway? For a torn fin? I stay away from all that medical dosing. That stuff talks about killing bacteria. I don't think you need it. Maybe somebody will let me know if i am wrong.

Its just tea tree oil right? I dont think it would hurt corals/inverts. Its a risk however...

QT would be the best option, but seeing how you dont have that option, I would turn off the skimmer, leave the powerheads on and treat with melafix. Run carbon and probably a water change 24-48 hours later before turning the skimmer back on. Just a guess because a QT is standard practice.

A 1g fish bowl is a death sentence IMO, at minimum get a rubbermaid storage bin or a brute trash can, yet the problem of a cycle still remains. A 10g tank at pet smart is relatively cheap...

If adding new fish always keep a small bio filter of some sort attached to the main tank so at a moments notice you can set up a QT. A small air powered sponge filter or IMO better yet a biowheel is best.

K Ima do that cuz his fins are worse.and eventhough I been working during the day I watch em at night. I don't think the damsels are beating on him. I'm hoping it's just fin rot. The tank he was in was sky high with nitrates

Dang I just looked closer his right fin is 50% missing. Wth? Maybe he is gettin beat up? That's alot of fin rot for a few days

Oooooohhhhhh ddaaagggggg I got me an "aquaticlife 36" T5 HO ballast with bulbs today. Timer fans moon lights all built in I'm lovin it. I just need some ideas on how many hours for my white bulb then actinic and moon lights. How many hours each. I don't want nuisance algae. The guy recommended 10-12pm for white then actinic with white for 8 hours then moon for 4 hours. Does this sound right? I do have some soft beginner corals.


Also my OG clown is doing a bit better since giving some melafix. It sux not being able to use my skimmer. I've got carbon it the drip tray after 3 day with melafix then carbon. There is some aggresion with the newest maroon clown he seems to be doing all the bullying. He picks on the injured clown but won't bite they just kinda push with there faces into eachother. And lil tail fighting. I may have to give the small one up. I realy don't want to bc I don't want him to go back to worse conditions. Can I save this relationship?

I can't stop looking at my tank now with my new light it looks dope and the zoas glow. Lol awesome.

Maroons are one of the meanest fish I've ever met. Chewed my GSPs tails to nubs within 2 days. Find another home for that fish.

Actually they're doing well with the puffers. They bully eachother. I think my damsels anger the puffers most. But there's no nipping I've seen. Everyones fins are intact except my one clown who came a lil beat up. I think it might be a ip thou I caught a glimpse of him poopin and it was string white. I might just give him back and keep the one that's healthy. Do you kno of any toxic nems that a gsp might stay away from if it taste real bad. So far they've left my other softies alone. For now...PP any ideas how long I should be keeping my different lights on so I don't get hair algae. WP are good I'm not getting any green or brown algae ATM I just want my softies to be happy n not sunburnt. Lol. Plus I'm trying to accelerate my coraline algae growth.

+2 on that...I had to catch my maroon clown out, he was after everything in the tank. Mean, mean, mean.

Really??? I am surprised the LFS said he'd be fine with GSP. Maybe mines doing fine bc there two of them. Did y'all have only one maroon clown or more with GSP.
