quick help please..

sorry to ask but i started a water change this am to discover im out of carbon, my gf just brought home a milk carton called ammo-carb. (activated carbon amd ammonia remover)
says its for freshwater aquariums.. can this be used on saltwater till i get my next shipment of carbon in?.

Why do you need the carbon? Isn't it normally only needed to remove medications etc from the water?

I use this stuff too it works just fine. Idk about how well the ammonia remover works but yes you can use it.

Carbon is not always necessary but can be used as a personal preference. It will remove unwanted chemicals in the water that declorinator won't. It will also remove meds if your using any. It can also make the water clearer by taking away the yelowish tint some tanks get. I use it but not all the time. I replace it if I have it.

yes i need to remove some meds tis why i needed carbon ill give it a go thanks for replies.

I would think that it would be fine, is it a FOWLR? My only concern would be what the ammonia remover may leave behind. Might irritate corals and other inverts if you have any, but just guessing.

On reef tanks carbon is typically run 24/7.

This ammonia remover generally doesn't work above VERY low brackish - enough salt can even be used to recharge ammonia remover of this type.
