Thanks, I can't wait till it's cycled. Went to the lfs and saw the gsps and I can't wait till I can bring one home. They just wanted to come with me, it was hard to not take one then. Need to have patience hopefully my tank finishes quickly it's said to look at an empty tank

kibbles wrote:Alright thanks that's I think the last question till I get my puffer I think. So how long do I have to run my filter before my tank is cycled? The water looks clear. It smells nice too. Just joking I'm using ammonia on the tank and using test drops. Already have high nitrite. Got ya to think I didn't know what I was doing though =P
There's no time frame, really. Some people manage it in a week to ten days; some have to go for a month or more. Usually it's closer to two weeks. Bumping the temp to 80-82 can help.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Yes, yes you did, I even typed the first couple words of my nearly automatic "yo Holmes, THIS is how you get your tank cycled, the LFS has been feeding you some BS" rant while simultaneously reading the rest of your post before I corrected and managing to replace that post with this one.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.
