I have a fondness for the irrubesco, I think they are nice little puffers. Sometimes males will chase one another away, especially during meal time, but I've never had any of mine cause any injuries, not even tatty fins. The females usually remain quite a bit smaller than the males, and the males can get fairly big. I think they are beautiful puffers. I also like that they are so easy to sex, too bad more puffers aren't as easy to identify which are male and which are female.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but the success of keeping these puffers is lots of plants and lots of places for them to hide. Mine always seemed to like hiding in half-cut coconut shells. I have three of those shells in my irrubesco tank now and you can see them peering out at you from in there. They also seem to know when it's meal time, all lining up at the glass waiting for their food.
Congratulations again Amy, you will enjoy them I think.
