Compatable?

Post by SammyDee »

Alright soo... Tommarow I'm going to the lfs for some stuff. I currently have a 55gal tall with a sump n skimmer. I'm gonna get a power head or two? Any brands y'all suggest? I also wanted to pick up two baby clown fish and possibly a cow fish or horned puffer? I think that's what it's called they're all yellow looking and pretty small at the lfs. My ? Is will a cowfish be fine with two baby clowns and what kinda clowns are the best I kno there's a few types. Also I wanted to grab a hermit crab and a large snail. I kno the hermit may get eaten but ahwell if he does. How big do clowns and cowfish get? Will they be fine with gsp. I have three gsp now and I'm prolly gonna give one or two to the lfs to sell off. Should I keep two gsp or just one. I'm thinking one so I can attemt other sw fish and soft corals. If the gsp is rippin it up then goodbye gsp. I love em but... I'm gettn more interested in other fish I wanna have a sweet reef tank in a few years or soo. Any one been successful keeping an anemone/ and shrooms with a gsp?

FOWLR? I would say two Koralia Evo powerheads. By far the best powerheads out there besides vortec. $35.99 @ marine depot, but at a LFS it would be a good deal more. Start with one 1050 and see if you want two or one smaller. They also can be put on a timer to makes waves.

Cows get way to large for a 55g, and even if there was a box/cow fish that would fit in a 55g I would worry about the toxins they can release.

zebra/electric blue/scarlet smaller size hermit would be just fine, their shells are rock hard and they are tough little suckers. Astrea snails should be fine, as long as they dont fall over. Turbos might be to tempting not to pick at.

One GSP isnt really good in a 55g in which you plan to have corals, lots of waste and it will eat smaller inverts/fish that can be very beneficial to a reef, particularly for a beginner reefer. Can be done, but it will make the coral route harder.

DArn I really love them boxfish they're soo cute. How about some other puffers. That are pretty docile and maybe could do corals. Maybe I should just give up puffer to do reef style tank. I like fowlr but it's just so plain loomkin. I want ppl who see it to think they in the ocean literally.

I'm thinkin I'm gonna need two powerheads bc of the way my rock is setup I have some stagnant areas where I get a tornado of debris. I wanna get two small but powerful powerheads. I already have two yellowtail damsels now with 3 gsp I'm gonna give up one or two gsp. If you live in Michigan anyone holla at me for one or two healthy puffs. Only if you'll keep em in marine conditions. They're decent sized and growing pretty quickly. Or so my friends think. I can't tell bc I see them daily. Soo then how bout some other fish that are cool with a gsp and damsels and clowns? I want y'all to pretend this is your tank since I've never had sw before 3 weeks ago. I also was gonna get some purple up. How well does this stuff work bc I have half live Fiji rock some haitan rock and the rest is lace rock which is much darker than the live Fiji n haitain rock. I want it to all blend nicely. Right now you can clearly see the color diff btw the rocks. Will coraline algae cover my lace rock too. Do I have to get a better light for the coraline algae?

Weird I was changing out my filter pad in my drip tray and found something alive and moving aroung in the pad. It looked like a slug with a slight brown stripe going down it's back. I tried to get a picture but lost it in the filter pad. Is this a pod or copepod. Idk. It was moving when it seen me. It had Two antenna like eyes or feelers what is this? Is it harmful? Or good?
