Re: What happened to you today :)
It's not their natural environment. They're escapees from a nearby tropical fish farm that happened to thrive in the environment they were in.
I probably wouldn't be taking any home anyway, if I can even find any! Just curious to see them in a wild setting
And take lots of pics. of them.

Re: What happened to you today :)
I went for a routine Drs appointment this morning...Worked for the rest of the day. I work at the internet company so I cruise the puffer forum sneakily....
I am expecting and haven't felt many baby kicks today... probably will be awake all night tonight to baby AC's version of DDR! Going to make dinner for my daughter and husband after the post! After dinner Mrs. Puff needs a water change and I'm going to try to see if she will eat something other than bloodworms.. finicky fish.
I'm probably going to fail again with switching my snake to frozen mice. She refused to even sniff the last one and looked at me like I was an idiot... ("It's dead moron") I know she's very hungry so maybe she'll at least sniff this one. I'll have to wait until late because my daughter loves mice and still thinks snakes eat "snake food" and it comes in a bag like cat stars.

Re: What happened to you today :)
so my chameleon is back from his vet appointment... $277 later, and another $75 from his first visit..... THIS HAD BETTER WORK!!!!! its mroe than i paid for the whole freaking cage set up and lizard... GOD! im betting the lady who sold him to me knew something was up & thats why he was so cheap... spending the extra money doesnt really bother me, i just hope hes going to be okay, he had an absess behind his eye, they had to cut his eyelid a little to drain out the nasty stuff, now hes on antibiotics... man, this new pet turned out to be a rescue... im probably up to around $900 now with buying him and his cage, the vet bills extra vitamin supplements and cage improvements i had to make... i could have bought like 10 chameleons by now!
but, i must admit, hes worth it... dun kno how many religious ppl are on this forum, but pls pray for him. ill be so heart broken if he doesnt make it... he is getting better, but still needs work

Just think of how lucky he is that you bought him
That lady's rottenness got this guy a proper home!

how can you know that she knew about this problem when she sold him?Flutter wrote:That lady's rottenness got this guy a proper home!
was there anything apparent wrong with him when you bought him?

Re: What happened to you today :)
i suppose thats a good way to think of it, though i just wish he wouldnt have to go through this
.... i am still learning though... with a healthy chameleon, it would be no problem... but with his condition, one mess up could possibly be fatal, so im researching like a mad woman lol

not to the naked eye... but now that i think back, she gave me a medicine called terramycin which is for when an eye gets swollen... she said "he needed it when he was a baby... who knows, if something ever happens to come up, at least youll have it" i didnt think much of it, just thought she was being thorough... the very next day, his eye was swollen a little, im assuming it flared up because of stress or something then it just kept swelling until its present state now. so, in answer to your question, yes. i do think she possibly could have known about it.eieio wrote: how can you know that she knew about this problem when she sold him?

to me, that sounds as though she was being "up front" with youkilofey wrote:not to the naked eye... but now that i think back, she gave me a medicine called terramycin which is for when an eye gets swollen... she said "he needed it when he was a baby... who knows, if something ever happens to come up, at least youll have it"eieio wrote: how can you know that she knew about this problem when she sold him?

she told you that there had been a health issue in the past, and gave you some medication for it in case it recurs
it's not as though she didn't say anything about it
she could have said nothing at all.........

There's just no way of knowing
I got some new plants today for the tank. These ones are apparently quite difficult and we're prepared for them to die. Fingers crossed they survive though as they're absolutely gorgeous.

i don't mean to sound harsh, and i'm sorry for any health issue that any pet hasFlutter wrote:There's just no way of knowing
but i feel like the person that sold this chameleon is being judged unfairly
she volunteered information (& medication!) about a prior health issue that was not evident at the time of sale, but has resurfaced quite some time after it
she didn't have to say anything at all about it, but she did........
she was being honest, up front
at that point, it was up to the buyer to either proceed with the deal knowing this history, or opt out of it........

Re: What happened to you today :)
I dunno.. from experience, we paid hundreds for persian show cats, the woman emailed the day she was bringing one and said he had a sore eye and she'd bring him the next day...
He came here with drops, turns out he had cat flu and she just told us it was a "sore eye" now all our cats have cat flu and they can never be shown etc.
If someone knows something is that bad, they should really tell you and not just say it was in the past or is better than it really is...
We'd never change any of them, & would probably of still bought him anyway if we knew.. but we could of prevented all our others getting ill.
Pretty annoying.
