Dwarf Puffers
Dwarf Puffers
I have 4 dwarf puffers in a 16 gallon tank. They are all about 3/4" long and all seem to be ladies as no signs of being male. Is it good to have all girls or should I try to get a male? Everything say 1 male for every 2-3 girls, but I think that is to keep the guys happy. Also is 4 in a 16 gallon pretty good? I think there is still one little poor puffer all alone a the pet store. I was pretty sure 1 for every for gallons was good though as I read 3-5 gallons per fish.

Your tank sounds very nice for your puffers, however, I'm sure you wouldn't "rock the boat" if you wanted to rescue that one poor little guy still left at the LFS, although that's just my opinion.

Sounds great to me. You're right - the ratio is to keep the males from fighting with each other over too few females. Watch out for signs of males in the tank - young males look like females, and their adult markings don't emerge until they're a bit more mature.

Oh this was kinda fun. I put 2 little ghost shrimp in with them the other day. Seemed like they were going to live happily together, but just now I heard a pop from the tank and they all had it in the corner looking at it. Not sure what I missed. They eventually let it go but I suspect they won't be living together for too long. Haven't seen any of the small snails I put in there lately either.
