I know the answer but I will ask anyways!

Post by knobhill »

Hi all,
I have a very naughty L91 (3-Beacon) Pleco that I have had to take out of my community tank. He is about 8" long and super aggressive towards tank mates I would like to house him with Abe, our Abei Puffer, who lives in a 30g tank. I am wondering if these two titans will clash or coexist--Abe has sharp teeth (duh) but the L91 has armored plates. Also, this pleco is carivorous, so it can clean up after Abe is done with his meaty meals.

This could end badly but I am looking for some guidance before I try anything stupid...

The tank would be overstocked with both of those fish (let alone way to small for the pleco.) Hope you can work something out for him though.

I never put anything in with my Abei, he was an agrressive little fella. I think he would most likely have a go at the pleco which in turn would have a go back. I've had a big pleco kill a full grown Oscar smashing him around a tank and there was no sharp teeth in that mouth. I honestly think it wouldnt work out.

Even if Abe can't bite through the armor, he'll get the eyes and fins and the resulting infection would likely kill the pleco.

Not to mention the tank is way too small anyways.

My Abei went for the belly when I had put some guppies in with him. And I would not try anything with him now. :tuttut:
