Maybe there like some sp. that just like a pinch of salt. Like Nadus sp. , some african cichlids, ect. I have had mine for 1 month in fresh. There bellies are white & eating great

still SG 1.004. 2 of 4 died, but i think the new bumble-bee-gobys broght something ill to the tank. after three days with medicine the two remaining puffers look wide awake again - and now they eat, and look and behave OK.

well, only one (and a half) left now. the big one (who terrorized the F8s) has today bitten off all the finnes of the smallest one. no fun. have moved the injured one to another tank.

this is one evil puffer. keep alone.

have got a new tank, but it is not been put to use yet.

my last TE is still alive and swimming in my brackish tank (SG 1.005) with a few sailfin-Mollies, two bumble-bee-gobies and a gibbiceps. he is doing just fine alone without other puffers is the tank. no fin-biting on the other fish.

diet: snails, bloodworm, mysis and shrimp.

any updates from you others who have this fish?

Mine are doing fine I have them in a 25g for now and I put 1/3 cup of marine salt in for three 25% WC and have not added any for the last two water changes and they are doing just fine. Pure FW they did not do well in but adding just that small amount of salt made them happy and healthy.

Any new updates on these guys? My LFS has some of them labeled as "Ninja Puffers". They seem to have some big personalities and are pretty good looking, so I was thinking of picking one up. Any of you keeping more than one in a tank successfully? Still doing well in BW?

i am still keeping mine in freshwater with a little salt in it. they are doing very well. i keep three of them in 240 l an the do not even finnipping!

what is "freshwater aquarium salt"? malawisalt or something like that?
no, i am using marine salt or actually i am using seewater from another tank. 10 liters of saltwater on 230l of freshwater (brutto). when changing the water in the saltwater tank i do not throw the used water away but give it to the freshwater tank. used saltwater im my saltwater tank is still clean enough for a freshwater tank.

Freshwater aquarium salt is usually used medicinally... at least, I think. Not sure. Anyway, you can't use it to create brackish or salt water. Not all salt is created equal...

I hae had one for aout a month now. I keep him in a 29 gallon freshwater tank along with n alino red tail shark and a common swordtail.The puffer does well but has taken a much more passive stance in the tank than I thought he would have. Originally had to green spottedpuffers in along with these fish but the Red line puffer ate those two. Since then the red tail shark has become ery territorial and dominating throughout the tank. No missin fins though soit seems they can co habitate. Will try to geta picture uploaded. Does anyone hae anyidea on the full mature sizeof these fish?

BEWARE OF LEAPING FISH!!
That was how mine met with its maker... a trip over the rim.
I kept mine in BW after having it in FW for the first week. It was much happier in the BW.
These fish is so unique and pretty, take good care of them.
