does your puffer freak out at lights out?

Post by lesleyanndunn »

i have blue moonlights in my gsp tank, i turn these on before i turn out the main tank lights

so he doesnt go straight from light to dark.

but he shoots from the bottom to the top of the tank when lights are being changed over, even if i do it gradually

i turn on the main living room lights before i turn off the moonlights, again so hes not going from a light to dark scenario...

sometimes he can have a freak attack then as well

anyone elses puffer do this?

Mine seem to actually look forward to bedtime. When I start shutting down the lighting they happily roost up in the LR. I also go from the 10k + actinic to just the actinic for about a half hour before shutting them all the way down.

Yep. When I turn the lights on or off the fish go crazy for about a second. I do it as slowly as I can too.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

My GSP, my Bronze or Golden or whatever it is, my dwarfs, and my valentini don't react at all, however my Ceylon is a different story entirely. He used to go absolutely nuts when I'd shut off the lights, but I learned that if I make sure he's awake and sees me before I do anything, he stays calm.

My puff used to go completely nuts when the lights went out, but i think he's warmed up to it now because i've yet to see him freak out the way i used to.
