FANGI and MAEKHONG Puffers. Anyone ever heard of these?

The description reads:
FANGI PUFFER (TETRAODON) $20.00
MAEKHONG RIVER PUFFER (T.FLUVIA) $5.00


The tetradon family is large and I don't know which one it may be.
The second one is a complete mystery!

The 2nd one may be T fluviatilis, which is Ceylon puffers. Not sure about the first, unless that's a Fang's puffer.

ahhh yes .. it looks like he just didn't have enough room to type in the entire name Ceylon for #2

moot point on the tetradon. I called the guy to get a description and he did not receive it in. Grrrrrrrr

The Fangi could be a Turgidus. I've seen Leiurus listed as Tetraodon Fangi before. Turgidus are sometimes claimed to be Leiurus.

monotrete cochinchinensis is sometimes called the fangs puffer J-P.

Impossible to tell without pictures (since most of the sellers have no idea what the real name is, shipping list info or not).

Fangi could easily be "Fangs Puffer", as was said, common name for the Cochinchinensis. The other could be many things.. Mekong often refers to the suvattii (arrowhead), river often refers to the fahaka and fluv.. that of course brings Ceylon to mind.

So yeah, never buy sight unseen just based on some sellers "scientific name" unless you really know and trust the seller.. get pictures of actual specimens, or possibly direct them to our Pufferpedia to have them try to match it up.
